Brand identity

Identities with an idea in them.

A good mark tells a small story and still reads at 16 pixels. I start with what makes you different, find the simplest shape for it, and build a system you can actually use - at a price that makes sense for a small business, not just a corporation.

Logos from over the years.

Not every logo needs a case study. Some of my favourite marks for other clients and projects.

How it goes

  1. 01

    Brief

You tell me about the business, the audience and what isn't working. The brief does most of this before we even talk.

  2. 02

    Direction

I come back with a direction: the idea, references, colour and type. We agree on where we're heading before any logo is drawn.

  3. 03

    Design

Sketches, then the mark, then the system around it - colours, type, layouts and the real-world applications.

  4. 04

    Hand-over

Every file you need, in every format, plus a short guide so anyone can use the brand properly.

Questions people usually ask

How long does a brand identity take?

Usually three to six weeks, depending on the scope and on how quickly we can go back and forth on feedback.

Do I get the source files?

Yes. You get vector and print-ready files, web formats and a short brand guide. The rights are yours once the project is paid.

Can you refresh an existing logo instead of starting over?

Often that's the smarter move. Entropy Gaming is a good example: we kept what people recognised and removed what was getting in the way.

Tell me about your brand.

The branding brief covers your business, audience, competitors and taste - with visual examples, so you can point instead of describe.

Takes about 10-15 minutes. Your answers are saved as you go.
